History and Biodata

The Muqbil is a Pashtun tribe, cousins of the Zadrans and Mangals. They mostly reside in Said Karam District, Paktia Province and also can be found in large numbers in Kurram living beside the Bangash and Mangal Pashtuns. They can be further divided into five clans: Musakhel, Sultak, Ahmadkhel, Hasankhel, and Bobaki.

The Chamkani also transliterated as Tsamkani or Samkani Samkanai, is a Pashtun tribe 4th son of Ghoryakhel confederation. They are mainly based in Tsamkani District, Paktia Province, Afghanistan, but can also be found in Kurram District, which is called para Chamkani, and the Chamkani neighborhood of Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

They took part in the frontier battles 1897, and during the Tirah campaign of that year a brigade under General Gaselee was sent to punish them.

Notable members of the Chamkani include Shoukat Aziz, a Pakistani human rights activist.

Allegedly, tensions between these two ethnic groups over a land division issue have persisted for 80 years, and the Taliban governor has sided with the “Samkanai” community in resolving the dispute.(20231213)
