Background:

Noor was unanimously elected as the chairman of the council. He said the participants of a meeting pledged their readiness to defend the city of Mazar-i-Sharif and recapture the lost areas. According to the decision of the meeting, a committee consisting of representatives of the National Assembly and political parties was appointed to continuously monitor the battle lines and the programs planned by the National Mobilization Military Council. The development comes a day after a mortar shell hit Atta Mohammad Noor’s house, injuring several of his bodyguards.

The meeting was attended by members of political parties and officials including the People’s Peace Movement, Wahdat-i-Islami, Azad Harakat Party, Wahdat-e-Islami New Afghanistan Party, Alliance of Hezb-e-Islami Councils and representatives of Harakat-e-Islami, Iqtidar-e-Milli, Joint Islamic Consultative Council and Jamiat-e-Islami party.(20210701)
