3. Biodata:

Mrs. Naheed Sarabi was born in Kabul in 1986 to a family from the Sarab area of Ghazni province. She completed her primary education in Kabul. She is the daughter auf Dr. Habiba Sorabi Surabi, Sarabi, former Bamyan Governor. Her family migrated to Pakistan during the Taliban regime.

After the fall of the Taliban, Sarabi returned to Afghanistan and briefly joined the Kabul University Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences. She received a scholarship form the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) to continue her studies in India. She holds a Bachelors in Political Science from the Indraprastha College for Women, Delhi University  (2004-2007) and an M.A. in Development Management from Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany. In 2013 Sarabi returned to academia. This time as a recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship. She received her second Masters in Applied Economics from Western Michigan University, USA.

Naheed Sarabi is a visiting fellow at the Center for Sustainable Development housed within the Global Economy and Development program at the Brookings Institution. She is also an independent consultant and a development practitioner with over ten years of experience in development policy and planning. Naheed previously served as the Deputy Minister for Policy at the Ministry of Finance in the government of the Republic of Afghanistan. She served as a board member of Open Society Afghanistan before the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul in August 2021. After leaving government, Naheed served as Assistant Resident Representative for the United Nations Development Program in Kabul. She is also a commissioner at the International Commission for Inclusive Peace and at the Principles for Peace initiative. Naheed holds an M.A. in Development Management from Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, and a M.A. in Applied Economics from Western Michigan University, USA.(20240218)
