Gen Ghulam Farooq Qateh was a a commander associated with the Jamiat-i-Islami party and former Balkh Governor Atta Noor. Qatih was involved in flare-ups of long fighting between Jamiat and Junbish, between supporters of Atta Mohammad Noor, and Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum. Gen. Ghulam Farooq Qateh was one of the key commanders of Jamiat in northern Faryab province. He was killed in a roadside improvised explosive device explosion in Almar district.(20180425)
