Judge Anisa Rasooli Anesa Rasouli was born 1968. She earned her BA from the Law Faculty of Kabul University in 1986, with an emphasis on criminal prosecution, and completed the Stage, Afghanistan’s mandatory training program for judges in 1990. She is currently completing her Masters degree in penal law and criminology.

Judge Rasooli is a founding member and Director of the AWJA and currently serves as the Head of the Juvenile Appellate Division of the Kabul Court, and as an instructor on family law and the juvenile justice system at the Judicial Stage program in Kabul. She has been the recipient of numerous appreciation letters and medals by the Supreme Court, Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Afghan Women Network and the Peace Jirga.

Mrs. Anisa Rasouli is President Ghani’s first appointed woman to the Supreme Court, but conservative lawmakers could fight the parliamentary confirmation of Anisa Rassouli, who now heads a juvenile court. (20150611) Anisa Rasooli, the head of the Afghan Women Judges Association and a former juvenile court judge, was the only female nominated to the nine-member bench.(20150630) Rasouli needed 97 votes out of 193 to win approval of Wolesi Jirga, but managed only 88 votes with the MPs approving another male member of the Supreme Court and the governor of the central bank.(20150708)

Rasooli is one of two chief judges driven in armoured vehicles that have been loaned to the ACJC by the Supreme Court − vehicles that will eventually have to be returned. Following the killings of the first two police investigators, Ghani issued a decree in June 2017 ordering 50 security personnel from the VIP protection unit to be assigned to the anti-corruption centre, according to a copy of the document seen. The decree also required the interior ministry and intelligence service to “seriously protect and cover the security of ACJC staff homes” and provide “armored vehicles” to those facing “high security threats.”(20171112)

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has once again nominated Anisa Rasooli to obtain the membership of the high council of Afghanistan’s Supreme Court.(20180730)

She is not married.
