3. Biodata: He said· that the Afghanistan government and the international forces backing it needs to be more innovative while confronting the Taliban. He cites the successes of the Moscow-backed regime of president Mohammad Najibullah, which outlived the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and survived for nearly three years after the withdrawal of the Red Army in 1989.· "They should consult our former intelligence colleagues about guerrilla warfare," he says. "They should also form guerrilla bands because only guerrilla tactics, intelligence maneuvers and accurate intelligence information can protect in a guerrilla warfare."(2010) Gen. Abdul Wahid Taqat, called the transition plan ostentatious, saying it should have been initiated insecure areas. He claimed Afghan forces had taken the security lead in areas where no foreign troops were present, or where there was no need for their presence. He feared the process would lead to destabilising the currently stable areas of the country. The move could inspire rebels to concentrate on areas changing hands, he believed, claiming the Afghan government lacked a clear strategy for transition, which needed complete preparations.(20111213) Abdul Wahed Taqat, had been detained on charges of fuelling ethnic tension.(20131213) |
