3. Biodata: Yasa is the personal Advisor for International Affairs of Hajji Mohammad Mohaqiq (2004) and also Mohaqeq's deputy. Yasa is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Afghanistan Daily (Dari/Pushtu) and Daily Outlook ( the first independent English-language newspaper of Afghanistan, founded 20040426. Its a nation-wide read daily of Afghanistan with 10,000 circulation published by Afghanistan Group of Newspapers) (20070103). Outlook does not receive any Government advertisement. Due to mass publication and vast readers across the country, the daily receives extensive advertisement from business companies. Yaha is a staunch opponent of President Karzai. At the Bonn Conference Ban Ki-moon was stunned when a senior Afghan journalist Dr Hussain Yasa started speaking against Karzai and said that Karzai is not competent enough to lead a peace process in Afghanistan.20111206)
According to a press release issued by the National Front, the NDS has detained Dr Hussain Yasa, the editor-in-chief of Outlook Afghanistan Daily as well as one of the founders of the National Front. Yasa was detained after he attended a consultative gathering of 17 political parties in Kabul. (20120725) Another source from the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said that NDS officials detained Dr Hussain Yasa, accusing him of spying. NDS obtained information showing that Yasa was passing classified information to some countries embassies. It was said that Yasa was later released on bail, and would be called in when needed.(20120726) Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq sent an open letter to the Pakistani embassy urging the country to pressure the Afghan Government to release Hussain Ali Yasa.(20120730) Like many other Afghans, Dr. Hussain Ali Yasa has Pakistan’s citizenship and his brother retired as a Pakistan Army officer, the Hezb-i-Wahdat party chief said on Wednesday. A senior activist of the Afghanistan National Front and editor-in-chief of two newspapers, Yasa was detained last week on the charge of regularly visiting the Pakistan embassy in Kabul. The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said Yasa had a Pakistani identity card and his brother served as a general in the Pakistan Army. However, he was released on bail after being kept in detention for 27 hours.
