3. Biodata:
Haji Mohammed Baqir Sharifi, son of Mohammed Tahi, was born in the district of Miramoor of Dai Kundi province to a farming family on June 15, 1954. He received a basic education in mosques studying under religious teachers. He completed his secondary education at Imam Sadiq Madarasa of Shahristan and his higher education in Mashhad, Iran. In 1976, he joined the military and in 1978 he completed his military service in the police department of Maidan Wardak province. He played an outstanding and focal role at the start of the anti-Soviet resistance in 1979 along with the Shahirstan and Dai Kundi scholars. Sharifi provided valuable cultural services for Afghan refugees based in Iran in the 1980s. He worked hard to establish cultural and sports centers for youth refugees. He created singing groups, established speaking circles, wrote articles and poetry known to all refugee youth in Mashhad who took part in his activities. Sharifi was appointed as the deputy of the cultural commission of Wahdat-e-Islami party in Shahristan district when he returned to Afghanistan. Through his position, he strove to organize activities in boys and girls schools. He is the founder and director of the “Forogh-e-Wahdat” publication. Although resources were limited, he took the responsibility of typing, copying and organizing the paper, and recruited writers, students and scholars to contribute material. In 1998, as a result of the oppression of the Taliban, he traveled as a refugee to Pakistan and Iran. In Iran, he provided services to Afghan refugees as the secretary of the representative office of Wahdat-e-Islami party in Tehran. Sharifi speaks Dari and Arabic. He is married and has six children.
