3. Biodata: Lieutenant colonel Shar Shahin Shaheen was born 1972 in Afghanistan. He was convicted in Kabul on 20091124, said the Criminal Justice Task Force, a special tribunal for drugs-related cases. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for possessing 40 tonnes of hashish and fined 2mn Afghanis ($40,000). He was the commander of the quick reaction battalion of border police in Spin Boldak, Kandahar Province.
Background: The DEA/Afghan operation to secure the 40 tonnes of hashish began shortly after Border Police commander Shar Shahin was “lured” to Kandahar Airfield and arrested along with his five bodyguards. |
