seraj_abdul_ali_princePrince Abdul Ali Seraj is a member of the Afghan royal family, he is also the President of the National Council for Dialogue with Tribes of Afghanistan, a group of tribal elders committed to finding a united political voice (although the Council insists that it is not a political party, but a tribal group). The Council supports Prince Abdul as a viable Presidential candidate, and he has publicly announced his intention of running.

He became a businessman in Kabul in the 1960s and 1970s, and after the communist coup of 1978 he fled to the United States, where he again entered business. After the fall of the Taliban, he returned to his home country. A theatrical figure, he has declared that he alone has the ability to mobilise and unite the people of Afghanistan behind him and fight off the Taliban. He is dismissive towards the Karzai administration, which he views as deeply ineffective, and the international community, which he believes has not listened to the Afghan community.
