3. Biodata:
Haji Mullah Sayed Muhammad Akhund, son of Haji Mullah Dad Muhammad Akhund, was born in 1960 in the Dand district of Kandahar province. He completed his secondary education at Ahmad Shah Baba High School in Kandahar. Akhund graduated from Shaheed Ghulam Muhammad Madrasa in Kandahar in 1992.

Akhund served as commander of the seventh division in Kandahar. He then participated in the Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) process.

He has extensive background in military and political affairs and holds the rank of general. He is the recipient of a medal from the President and Governor of Kandahar. He was elected to the Meshrano Jirga through the 2005 Provincial Council elections in Kandahar.

Akhund is married with nine daughters and seven sons.

He speaks Dari and Pashto.
