How do I find a person or a topic?
Enter the surname or topic name in the search box and select “Name”. Ignore the alphabetical filter initially. If several results appear, check the names listed and any alternative spellings provided.
If you cannot find the entry you are looking for, try a different spelling or a shorter part of the name.
Alternatively, you can use Google, for example: afghan-bios.info Hamid Karzai (please note that Google may not display the most recent update).
Select “All fields” to search across all text fields. Use this option if you also want to find mentions of a person in other biographies.
This full-text search works well in combination with the alphabetical navigation bar. The alphabetical filter applies to the first letter of the Name field.
Combining a search in the “Name” field with the alphabetical navigation bar is less useful.
