Background:

Janikhel Janikhil district is sharing borders with Pakistan, where some parts of the district has long been remain insecure. The government forces yet to restore peace and stability there.(20160810)

Janikhail district collapsed to the Taliban on August 27, 2016 and was in the insurgent group's hands for a week.

However, security forces have cleared the area of insurgents and have retaken the district.(20160910)
