Sayed Abdul Basir Ahmadi, son of Al-Haj Sayed Ahmad Khan, was born in 1964 in the village of Takia in Kishm district of Badakhshan province. He completed his primary education in 1969 at Mir Afzalullah School in Kishm. He received his baccalaureate Khair Khana High School in Kabul. He made the Haj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia in 2002 and 2003. In 2005, he participated in a workshop on globalization hosted in the U.A.E. Ahmadi has a background in agriculture. Ahmadi was indirectly elected to the Meshrano Jirga through the 2005 provincial council elections in Badakhshan.

He is married and has ten children.
