Gen. Abdul Wahid Taqat, called the transition plan ostentatious, saying it should have been initiated insecure areas. He claimed Afghan forces had taken the security lead in areas where no foreign troops were present, or where there was no need for their presence. He feared the process would lead to destabilising the currently stable areas of the country. The move could inspire rebels to concentrate on areas changing hands, he believed, claiming the Afghan government lacked a clear strategy for transition, which needed complete preparations.(20111213)
