Haji Sher Muhammad Nuristani, son of Abdul Karim Khan, was born in 1944 in the village of Rastomando in Nuristan province. He was a military school graduate. Nuristani served as manager of the Kamoi Hotel in Nuristan. For 26 years, he lived as a refugee in Chitral, Pakistan. He was once affiliated with the National Rescue Front under the leadership of Hazrat Sebghatullah Mujaddedi. Nuristani was indirectly elected to the Meshrano Jirga through the 2005 provincial council elections in Nuristan.
He has a wife and seven children.
