But he  sustained injuries on 20111030 in a second  mine explosion in Kandahar in Oct 2011. According to a statement from Kandahar governor office, the vehicle which was carrying Mawlavi Noorul Aziz struck a roadside mine planted in Shorandam area of Jami Camp village, resulted injuring the director. The source added the provincial director of Hajj is not in criticalcondition.(20111030). Kandahar provincial director for hajj affairs, Mawlavi Norul Aziz was arrested by the National Directorate for Security (NDS) on 20131007 after tens of people staged a peaceful protest against him in southern province of Kandahar.

Mullah Shirin Akhund Mullah Mohammad Shirin Mullah Shireen Akhund Shirin Noorzai aka Abdullah Hanafi  Mullah Mohammad Ali Hanafi, is part of the leadership council as well as the political office in Doha. He is an Alizai (or Noorzai) tribe member from Kandahar who used to be close to Taleban founder Mullah Omar: He was in charge of organising Omar’s personal security.  In 2016 he was mentioned as being in charge of the war in 19 provinces. In 2018, a UN Security Council report described him as “the Taliban Head of Intelligence for the Southern Region”. The former director of the NDS, Rahmatullah Nabil in October 2018 on Twitter accused Shirin of being behind the assassination of Kandahar’s police chief General Raziq. He has been mentioned as member of the negotiation team in official statements.

Mullah Shirin had been the Taliban’s deputy defence minister of intelligence affairs.

He enjoys close relations with the Taliban leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada.
