Mirza Khan Rahimi was appointed as the governor nearly 8 months ago (Sep 2015). He previously held the capacity for Head of Security in the capital Kabul and central Ghazni province. His resignation comes amidst unstable security situation in the province where Taliban have managed to capture a number of northern and southern districts. Rahimi confirmed his resignation but said that he would share the details of his resignation to the media soon. A source close to him told Salam Watandar that the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani asked the governor to resign and not travel to the province again.
