A roadside bombing targeted the vehicle of Abdul Samad Shams Abdul Samad-e Shamsuddin, the chief of National Security Directorate(ANSD) in western Farah province, leaving four people wounded 24.09.2009 morning, but Samad escaped unhurt, said an official. Two suicide attackers fired shots at the bodyguards of Samad Khan, head of the Farah NDS and later blew themselves up and as a result of cross-firings. Samad Khan was not in his house during the attack, while provincial NDS chief Abdul Samad was attending Eid prayers.(20121026).
Abdul Samad Khan, Intelligence chief of western Farah province survived armed attack in Bala Balok district  20120929. Taliban gunmen attacked his vehicle. The spy chief and his guards escaped unhurt in the attack. Abdul Samad was on way to Farah city from Bala Balok district when was ambushed by Taliban.

A motorcycle packed with heavy explosives went off near the convoy of Gen. Abdul Samada, NDS chief of Farah province. It is sayed he was unhurt. Abdul Samad was on his way towards his office when the incident took place, leaving one person dead and 15 others injured. (20130823)

Gen. Abdul Samad Shams was sacked after he was summoned to Kabul by the National Directorate of Security NDS on 20140410.
