3. Biodata: Karkhi has worked primarily as a teacher in Herat province and taught at the Aatefi High School for 6 years from 1980 to 1986. She was then a teacher at the Gawhar Shad High School of Herat province from 1986-2005. She has also been a member of the Executive Committee of the Department for Women’s Affairs in Herat. Outside of her teaching experience, Karkhi has been involved with NGOs and has worked as a social activist. Karkhi was a Master Trainer with the Afghan Women’s Network (AWN). She has worked with the National Participation Council of Afghanistan as head of the Women’s Commission and the Women’s Development Center, where she participated in a one-year leadership internship in 2009. During her work for AWN and the Particiaption Council, she has also coordinated with the Women’s Association of Social Affairs (WASA). Karokhi is a member of the Musharekat Madani Party and was a member of the Loya Jirga.
Karkhi ran unsuccessfully for parliament in 2005, gaining 2,556 votes.
