The chairperson of the Council was appointed by President Karzai’s brother, Shah Wali Karzai, who asked all representatives of people in the province to announce their support from Syed Jan Khakrizwal Haji Sayed Jan Khakrezwal’s candidacy and vote for him. (20130210)
Deputy council chief Mohammad Ihsan Noorzai, who ran the office affairs as acting head, was elected PC Chairman in the presence of the governor, his deputy and representatives of the human rights commission. Rahmatullah was elected as deputy chief and Hafizullah as secretary. (20120414)

Biographies of Kandahar Provincial Council Members
1 – Haji Syed Jan Khakrezwal:
Son of Haji Abdul Ghafar, Haji Syed Jan Khakrezwal is born in the Khakrz District of southern Kandahar Province in 1962. Hailing from Popalzai tribe, Khakrezwal is director of Kandahar provincial council. He has no political affiliation.
2 – Mrs. Zarghona Kakar:
Zarghona Kakar is the daughter of Haji Gul Mohammad Kakar. She is born in the capital city of Kandahar in 1969. She is a graduate and hails from Popalzai tribe. Zarghona serves as deputy of the provincial council. She has no political affiliation. She further belongs to Kakar tribe.
3 – Haji Hafizullah:
Haji Hafizullah is the son of Haji Khudai Nazar and is born in southern Kandahar Province in 1966. Hailing from Alokzai tribe, Hafizullah is a school graduate. He is the secretary of provincial council and he has no political affiliation.
4 – Haji Mohammad Ihsan:
Son of Haji Abdul Samad, Haji Mohammad Ihsan is born in southern Kandahar Province in 1971. He completed his engineering faculty in Germany. He is a member of provincial council in Kandahar Province. Belonging to Norzai tribe, Ihsan has no political affiliation.
5 – Haji Agha Lalai Dastagiri:
Haji Agha Lalai Dastagiri is the son of Haji Ghulam Dastagir Khan. He is born in the Panjwai District of southern Kandahar Province in 1977. He is a member of provincial council. Attending only his primary education, he has no political affiliation.
6 – Haji Namatullah Sherdali:
Son of Azizullah, Haji Namatullah Sherdale is born in the Spin Boldak District of southern Kandahar Province in 1965. He completed his high school education and now is a member of provincial council in southern Kandahar Province. Sherdali was earlier associated with the Milli Nijat Party. He belongs to Noorzai tribe.
7 – Haji Ahmad Shah Khan:
Haji Ahmad Shah Khan is the son of Haji Sardar Mohammad Khan. He is born in southern Kandahar Province in 1972. Khan completed his high school and now enjoys membership of provincial council in the province. Belonging to Asakzai tribe, Ahmad Shah has no political association.
8 – Haji Mohammad Ridee:
Haji Mohammad Ridee is the son of Haji Abdul Wadoud. He is born in southern Kandahar Province in 1980. He graduates from high school. He is a member of provincial council in the province. Ridee belongs to Alakozai tribe. He has no political affiliation.
9 – Haji Mukhtar Rashidi:
Son of Haji Mohammad Nabi, Haji Mukhtar Rashidi is born in southern Kandahar Province in 1977. He is the high school graduate and has membership of provincial council in the province. Rashidi belongs to Mohammadzai tribe. He has no membership of any political party.
10 – Haji Fida Mohammad:
Haji Fida Mohammad is the son of Haji Mohammad. He is born in the Spin Boldak District of southern Kandahar Province in 1972. He has no affiliation with any political party. He is the member of provincial council. He belongs to Asakzai tribe.
11 – Haji Rahmatullah Khan:
Haji Rahmatullah Khan is the son of Haji Dadullah. He is born in the Daman District of southern Kandahar Province in 1972. He completed his secondary school and now is a member of provincial council. Belonging to Asakzai tribe, he has no political affiliation.
12 – Mrs. Maryam Durani:
Daughter of Haji Mohammad Eisa Durani, Mariam Durani is born in 1987. Hailing from Muhammadzai tribe, Mariam is graduated from business department of American University of Afghanistan and currently she is a third class student of Law and Political Science at Noor University. She was Kandahar people’s representative in the provincial council during the first tenure as well. She has served in different positions such as director of Khadijatul Kubra cultural and social association, owner of Merman Radio (special women radio) and as founder of Kandahar woman advocacy network. She received World Ten Brave Women’s award on eight March 2012 as well as World 100 Influential Figure’s award on 20th April 2012. He has also received Brave Woman award from the State of Pennsylvania, Women Rights Protector’s award from Washington and Iraq and Afghanistan Female Peace Activist’s appreciation letter from Turkey. She belongs to Popolzai Tribe.
13 – Mrs. Shakila Salehi:
Shakila Salehi is the daughter of Abdul Ghafoor Barekzai. She is born in southern Kandahar Province in 1982. She completed her high school education. She has membership of the provincial council. Salehi is a member of Jamhori Khwahan Party of Afghanistan.
