Head of the Grand Pamir Road project: Wali Jan, a resident of Wakhan district, said: "The main problem in Pamir was that transporting just two sacks of flour to the area would cost locals around 14,000 afghanis due to poor road conditions." The construction of this road in Wakhan district is expected to serve as a major transit corridor and a key link connecting Afghanistan to Central and East Asia. The distance from Gazkhan in Wakhan to the Greater Pamir is 120 kilometers. Currently, residents rely on horses and yaks, taking three to four days to reach the district center. Once the project is completed, it is expected that residents will be able to make the journey in a much shorter time.
