Background:
Da Shariat Ghag Radio (in Pashtu and Dari) was the official mouthpiece of Taliban regime before its collapse in late 2001.
Meantime, Taliban purported spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told media from an undisclosed location via telephone claimed that militants have established four radios in the country. The Taliban occasionally run a mobile radio station by the name of Shariat Ghag (Voice of Sharia), mainly to recruit youths for their fighting lines. It was used for the first time in 2007 in the bordering areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan. After being off for some time, in 2018 it was used in the Ghazni province in central Afghanistan. The station was bombed by international forces. Active Taliban commissions in Helmand Province include the information and culture commission, which runs a provincial branch of the Taleban radio station, Shariat Ghag (Voice of Sharia) and provides news broadcasts and propaganda videos for the various Taleban websites, including Al-Emarah website.(20170326)
