A man was arrested on charge of attacking the Independent Election Commissioner, Maulana Abdullah on Sunday Nov 10, 2019 in PD 11th of Kabul, the capital city, an official confirmed.

IEC Commissioner Maulana Muhammad Abdullah during a meeting between UN technical advisers and IEC officials, made life-threatening statements against Bashir Ali, Database Manager for the National Tally Center and made derogatory slurs about his religion and ethnicity. UNAMA said that Mawlana Abdullah had created “toxic working environment” and called on IEC to take appropriate and timely action to address the issue. Speaking at a press conference, the commissioner said that he would sue those who passed “wrong information” to UNAMA at “this critical juncture.”(20191111)
