1. Former Consul General in Los Angeles:
Abdul Majied Danishyar was born in Mazar-Sharif, Balkh province of northern Afghanistan in 1975. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Cairo University in 2001 in the field of Political Science and Economics. He subsequently joined the Afghan Foreign Service in 2002, at a time when Afghanistan had just begun a new chapter in its modern history, with the support of the international community. He is a career Afghan diplomat with extensive experience in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy. He has served in various capacities, including Chief of Staff to the current Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; Political Counselor at the Afghan Embassy in Ankara, Turkey and Deputy Director General of the United Nations and International Conferences Department at the Afghan Foreign Ministry. As Chief of Staff from 2014-2017, he played an important role in overseeing the overall activities of the various departments and directorates of the Afghan Foreign Ministry, while maintaining close contact with Afghanistan’s many embassies, political missions and consulates abroad. Prior to that, as Political Counselor at the Afghan Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, he worked extensively on promoting and deepening Afghanistan’s bilateral relations with Government of Turkey, with special focus on enhancing that country’s proactive engagement in Afghanistan’s stabilization and rehabilitation efforts.
Throughout his career, he has attended various regional and international conferences related to international peace and security; conflict resolution and economic development, with a particular focus on highlighting Afghanistan many achievements in various spheres, over the past sixteen years. He is married and has three children.
