3. Biodata: Born as Mullah Abdul Rahim, Mullah Manan was a high profile individual after the Taliban’s slain supreme leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour. Hailing from Ishaqzai tribe, he was a resident of Farhad locality in Nawzad district and an important member of the Taliban’s leadership. He was also known for violating some orders of the Taliban head Mullah Hibatullah and had been accused of not obeying orders in recent times.
According to reliable sources, Mullah Manan was accused of establishing contacts with Iran’s Sepah Pasdaran group and received arms and money against deadliest attacks in Afghanistan.The source added the slain Taliban leader had allowed schools, hospitals and other public welfare programs in Helmand as a result of his growing differences with the leadership.
Abdul Manan Akhund, senior member of Taliban's leadership council based in Pakistan's Quetta and Taliban shadow Governor in Helmand Province was killed along with his two spokesman Hafiz Rashid and Mullah Javied and two guards in Nawzad district. Taliban in a statement confirmed his death saying it was a "big loss." Manan was killed in an airstrike by US .(20181201)
