Ajmal Obaid Abidy Aimal Obaid Abidi was born 1981 in Afghanistan. He was appointed by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani as his new spokesman. He is a senior member of his campaign team

Abidi is the former founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Arya Television Network. In 2011 Aria TV was launched as an exclusive channel for children and teenagers, to teach them about their civic rights and provide “Education through Entertainment.”  The target audience is preschoolers, school students, and out of school children, with the goal of developing their curiosity and creativity through animations, soap operas, feature movies, documentaries and TV spots. ARIA TV focuses on democracy promotion, sending the message that young people are Afghanistan’s hope for the future.  He was one of the senior member of the electoral team of Ghani.

According to the statement issued by President Ghani’s office Abidi was also one of top adivers of President Ghani and was a key strategist during the elections period. He led a nationwide civic education program for USAID and worked as media specialist for the Legal Awareness Program of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). In 2009, he contributed to Ashraf Ghani’s presidential campaign as spokesman and head of strategic communications.  Abidy served in the Office of Afghan President, where he facilitated a series of trainings on media, democracy, elections and human rights in Afghanistan and abroad from 2002 to 2004. In Pakistani exile he was the leader of an Afghan youth association in Peshawar.(20011019)
