Helmand province has been promoted into grade-A province in compliance with a presidential decree and a Cabinet decision (20140418)

Helmand province is located in south west of the country; LASHKARGAH is the central of Helmand province, the populations are 850200 in this province, the residents of this province speak PASHTO and DARI, most of the people in this province are involved with agriculture.

_The main crops of this province are grains, fruit and vegetables.

 _Vegetation such as baked and etc

_Grains such as seeds, corn, beans, pulse

_Fruits such as grip, pomegranate, apple, pear, plum, pin nuts, almond, melon, water melon and etc.

  _Vegetables such as: spinach, cauliflower, leek, radish, onion and etc.

_ here are many historical places like (QALAH BOST) this historical place has built 5000 years ago.

  _ Development and plan for this province: we can see many changes in different things, like education, establishment of university and increasing boys and girls’ students, and building new primary school in the districts.

_Health: health care has got better compare to the last couple of years and some clinics have been built in the districts as well.

   _ Peaceful community:  many people have found jobs and poor families have received food aids and food is being distributed.

    _ District development program (DDP) is under way for some districts and for some others have implemented.

 _ Governmental worker in the districts has formed according to the plan and the recruitment and administrations have been activated.

_some development projects have started from the PRT, which is very good and essential for the people economy.

_Security: you know that security is the most important thing in our life and has got better in this province, with providing security for the people, jobs, business, education, and projects have been increased and people economy has been raised 80 percent.
 

There are 13 districts in Helmand province
 

  First grade districts

GERESHK district:GERESHK has (4697) square km area and the population is 107500. It is located 48 KM from Lashkar gah, the capital of Helmand. Gereshk has 164 big villages. The climate is moderate. Its main crops are wheat and corn.

NAD ALI DISTRICT:this district has (4697) square km area and the population is 107500. It is located 17 km from LASHKAR GAH, the capital of Helmand. Its main crops are wheat and corn.

NAWAH district:this district has (657) square km area and 84600 populations, there are 129 big villages in this district. It is located 24 km from LASHKAR GAH the capital of Helmand. Its main crops are wheat and corn.

Second grade districts

Garmsir district:this district has (20275) square km area and 80000 populations, there are 150 big villages; it is located 76 km from Lashkar gah the capital of Helmand.

Sangin district:this district has (291) square km area and 54400 populations, there are 56 big villages in this district. It is located 90 km from LASHKAR GAH the capital of Helmand.

 Desho district:this district has (9782) square km area and 18600 populations; it is located 215 km from Lash kargah the capital of Helmand. And this district has 75 big villages.

Now Zad district:this district has (4560) square km Area and 46800 populations; it is located 128 km from LASH KARGAH the capital of Helmand. This district has 173 big villages.

Kajaki district:this district has (1939) square km area and 65000 populations, KAJAKI has 170 big villages. It is located 133 km from LASHKAR GAH the capital of Helmand.

 3th grade districts:

Washir district:this district has (4105) square km area and the population is 14200. Washir has 64 big villages. It is located 143 km from LASHKAR GAH the capital of Helmand.

KHANASHIN DISTRICT: khanashin district has (7414) square km area and populations are 24000. It is located 160 km from LASHKAR GAH the capital of Helmand. KHANASHIN has 96 villages.

Kajaki district:this district has (1939) square km area and populations are 74200. This district has 295 villages, and it is located 260 km from LASHKAR GAH the capital of Helmand.

Musa Qala district:this district has (1362) square km area and populations are 53800. This district has 107 big villages and it is located 110 km from LASHKAR GAH the capital of Helmand. Its main crops are wheat and corn.

Marja district:Marja has 22575 populations and there are 22 villages.

 Baghran district:this district has (3587) square km area and 74200 populations. It is located 210 km from LASHAKR GAH the capital of Helmand.
