Background:
The district is inhabited with 100% Hazara. The ongoing violence between Kuchis (Pashtun) and Hazaras in the Behsud and Day Mirdad district in Wardak province highlighted once again the complex issues related to landownership and economic tensions following years of protracted Kuchi and Hazara land conflict. The dispute has erupted sporadically almost a centuriy and caused bloodshed between the two groups.(20100529)
