Lotfullah Kamrani was born 1989 in Ghazni Province. He is a brother of Ghazni Provincial Council member Amanullah Kamrani. Known to his followers as 'The Engineer', because of a computer science degree (other sources say he is a student) who now commands dozens of anti-Taliban fighters, said his men were in daily clashes, some lasting up to 10 hours. Confusingly, Kamrani admits having fought for the Islamist group Hizb-i-Islami against NATO and Afghan government troops before the uprising began. This ambiguity – though not unusual in a conflict in which people frequently change sides according to which way the local political wind is blowing – may go some way towards explaining why the rebels have yet had little in the way of concrete help from Kabul or the coalition. In other words, the rebels may have won plaudits for evicting the Taliban, but they aren't completely trusted.

The followers of Lotfullah Kamrani, the head of the arousers of Andar District of Ghazni, have blocked the Kabul-Kandahar Highway in Massoud Square of Ghazni City, and they asked the current police chief Ramazan to be removed and Engineer Lotfullah Kamrani should be appointed instead of him.(20130710)
