Baghlan-i-Markazi District Chief:
Amir Gul Hussainkhel also mentioned as Civil Order Police Chief (20100123 , 20110102, 20120403), former Heszb-i-Islami Commander who was under US Arrest in Bahghlan and freed on Intervention of President Karzai. Amir Gul was cought redhanded after confiscation of suicide bomber-vests, belts and explosives. A sixth-grade boy who had been working part time at a tailoring shop in Baghlan-e Markazi district told Quqnoos that Mohammadullah, the nephew of the district governor Amir Gul, kidnapped and raped him 20090714, which had not been followed up. Background:
Baghlan was a district in Baghlan Province, Afghanistan. The main town of the district was also known as Baghlan. In 2005, Baghlan was annexed into the district of Baghlani Jadid, also in Baghlan Province.
Baghlan-e-Markazi (Baghlan-i-Jadid) District is under Taliban Control (20100420)
Baghlan-i-Markazi District was a peaceful District, but since 2009 is a Taliban hot bed (20100123). Taliban and Hekmatyar-led Islamic party Hizb-e-Islami are fighting in Kokchinar area of Baghlan-e-Markazi (Bahglan-i-Jadid) district (20100306).
Ethnic Composition: - Pashtuns 50% of the population - Tajiks 40% and - Uzbeks 10% Pashtun major Tribes: located in Baghlan Jadeed Jadid and north of Pul-I-Khumri Ahmadzai (Pashtoon), located in Dahana Ghuri village, Pul-I-Khumri, Gadi (Pashtoon) located in Baghlan Jadeed and Baghlan Khonjan. Dari is spoken by 70% of the population and 73% of the villages. The second most frequent language is Pashtu, spoken by the majorities in 528 villages representing 22% of the population. |
