3. Biodata: Mohammad Najeeb Azizi is currently serving as Economic Specialist and Advisor to the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo and simultaneously working on a Ph.D. at Okayama University, Japan. His major focus at the moment is the macroeconomic policies and development issues in the context of foreign aid in post-Taliban Afghanistan. Mr. Azizi has served the World Bank, UNDP, USAID as well as the private sector and different NGOs as consultant. After the fall of the Taliban, he started his public sector career as He has represented the government of Afghanistan in over three dozen national and international forums in the Philippines, Japan, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and elsewhere. Azizi holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration from Nottingham University, UK and a Master of Science and Honors degree in Economics from International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan. He has vast research experience on current development issues. Azizi is an active member in several non-governmental bodies and attends professional societies and youth organizations as board member. He is also leading the Young Professional Afghan Economic Society as its President. In November 2005, he was awarded the “Most Active Young Afghan” of the year 2005 certificate by the Afghan Communicator, a North America based umberalla organization, in recognition of his contributions to the reconstruction efforts. He contributed background papers to the UNDP Afghanistan Ntional Human Development Report 2004. |
