Delawar Aimaq, son of Shair Mohammad, was born 1963 in Nahrin district, Baghlan Province. Aymaq completed his primary and secondary education in Nahrain district, and attained his bachelor’s degree from the Army University (Harbi Pohantun) in Kabul, Afghanistan in 1982 He served as an army officer during the PDPA regime in the 20th Army Division during the 80th. He is close to Jamiat-e-Islami. Originally from Nahrin district, he is a brother-in-law of Malik, the Baghlan IEC officer who was accused of fraud in 2009 presidential election and shifted to the IEC office of neighboring Samangan province as an administrative punishment. Delawar Aimaq also served as a public awareness worker during 2009 presidential election.
He is married and has nine children.
He speaks Dari and Pashto.
