3. Biodata:
Kofi_MaryamMaryam Kufi Maryam Koofi was born in 1970 in Kofab Kuf Ab district, Badakhshan province. Her father was a senator during Zahir Shah’s regime. Kufi finished her primary and secondary education at Ansari High School in Kabul province in 2007. She is currently (2012) a student of Law and Political Science at the Mashal University in Kabul province, in her fourth semester of studies.

Kufi has over 17 years’ experience working in private business and for with nongovernmental organization. She was the director of the Darwaz Reconstruction and Service Association from 2003 to 2011. She joined Save the Children Sweden in 2004, the Canadian Embassy in Kabul in 2005, and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) – where she served as a supervisor – from 2007-2010. She currently heads an import/export business, and until recently she was the director of the Kofi Brothers Construction Company. Since coming to parliament, her son has taken on this role.

Maryam Kofi is the sister of Fawzia Kofi who was reelected as an MP MNA Badakshan in 2010.

Hedayatullah, the brother of Mariam Kufi and Fauzia Kufi, two female parliamentarians from the northeastern Badakhshan province, was arrested along with three others companions on Monday for allegedly carrying the opium in a car. (20110607)

Maryam Koofi was injured following a verbal clash with a member of the Afghan national security forces who is said to be an NDS officer.. The incident took place around 10 pm local time near the residential house of Maryam Koofi. According to the reports, the lawmaker was shot multiple times by the assailant police officer engaged in an argument with the female member of parliament opened fire and wounded the lawmaker in the leg and was immediately taken to emergency hospital. The assailant officer was arrested and is in custody for further investigation. Kofi survived a shooting attack on her car in 2010. (20140416)

She is married and has five sons and three daughters.
