3. Biodata:
Mohammed Afzal Ahmadzai, son of Haji Shadi Khan, was born in 1957 in the village of Malang in Khak Jabar district of Kabul province. He completed his primary and intermediate education in the Khord Kabul Intermediate School and his secondary education at Chahar Asyab High School in Kabul province. Ahmadzai traveled to Saudi Arabia in 1956, and in 1959 he joined the engineering faculty in Shah Faisal University. In 1984, he received a degree in architecture. During this period he received an appreciation letter from the Olympic Committee of Saudi Arabia.

While a student, he also served as a representative of the Jamiat-e Islami Party, and as a political representative of the Itehad-e Islami Party in Saudi Arabia. Ahmadzai was appointed a commander in the southeastern zone of Kabul province in 1985. After the mujahideen victory, he served as the director of housing of the Ministry of Public Works and later as commander of 839th jihad southeastern zone.

During the reign of the Taliban, Ahmadzai he left Afghanistan and was appointed as the political representative of Itehad-e Islami. In order to find a political solution and save the country from the Taliban, he traveled to European countries and participated in many conferences and seminars. Ahmadzai returned to the country after the fall of the Taliban and served as commander of the southeastern zone. In 2003, he received a letter of appreciation from the President for joining the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) process.

Ahmadzai founded the Haji Nazir Mina residential area which will provide 50,000 people with housing. He participated in the Association of Islamic Countries Engineering Conference held in Egypt in 1988 and in 1989 in Karachi, Pakistan. In 1987, Ahmadzai participated in the Annual Conference of the Association of Muslims in Manchester, England as the head of an Afghan delegation.

He has traveled to many Arab, European, African and Asian countries. He was a member of the Executive Committee of Islamic Unity Faction and later joined the National Islamic Authority Party of Afghanistan (Iqtedar Millie). He currently serves as the director of tribal affairs for the party. Ahmadzai was indirectly elected to the Meshrano Jirga through Provincial Council elections in Kabul province.

He is married and has eight children. He speaks Pashto, Dari, English and Arabic.
