Ahmad Mawin is the son of Mohammad Ayoub. He was born 1952 in Dawlat Yar district of Ghor province. He is a 14th Grader and post-baccalaureate in teacher training, is married and has two sons and five daughters. He was member of the Khalq Party and held various posts in the Ministry of Education.
Mawen Ahmad is a local strong man from Dawlatyar in Ghor Province. He is a Qazi and former jihadi commander. After the arrest of Mawen Ahmad in February 2008, rioters took District Chief Khan Muhammad Qanoni and District Police Chief Muhammad Nabi Paiman from Dawlatyar district as hostage and carried them to Kaishro valley. Protesters and loyalists of Mawen Ahmad had taken the local authoritys after violent demonstrations. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed in Feb 2008 Mawen as being a Taliban Commander.
Finally also in February 2008 Mawin was released from jail and the hostages had been set free. The Meshrano Jirga (MJ) suspended Mawen Ahmad (Ghor) in April 2010 following allegations that he was involved in the mass killing of up to 50 people. The suspension came after the MJ’s Complaints Committee received submissions against Senator Ahmad from Ghor province over a period of three years, although the actual date of the mass murder is not known. However, the Independent Commission of Oversight and Interpretation of the Constitution (ICOIC) advised the MJ that its decision to suspend Mr. Ahmad is not constitutional, resulting in the MJ “revoking the suspension”.
He is the Secretary of the Relation to the Provincial/Districts Councils and the Privileges of the House Members Immunities commission.
