Maryam Gailani of Afghanistan, is the daughter of Pir Ahmed Gailani. She is the Chairperson of the Afghan Relief and Rehabilitation Fund, a Trustee of the Afghan Children's Relief Fund and a Director of the Red Crescent Society. Maryam has dedicated her life to social causes, especially in the area of children's and women's rights, and has continued the vision of her grandfather, H.M. Habibollah Shah. Maryam Gailani's initiatives have produced significant results in Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and the UK, and have provided funding and direction for numerous orphanages, girls' schools, women's shelters and for reforms in family law. Maryam Gailani was born in Kabul and was educated at the Lycee Francais de Kaboul and at Tehran's Melli University. She is married to Mohammad Nazemi and has two daughters, Safiya Nazemi Sarfraz Khan and Iman Nazemi. She lives in Islamabad, Kabul and London.
