Mia Ahmad, the Counter-narcotics Chief of Kabul Police Commandment was sentenced to 17 years and 3 months in prison after the conclusion of an investigation by prosecutors into alleged coopration between Ahmad and the drug smugglers.

The prosecutors sentenced Lemar, the director of the detective directorate of Counter-narcotics of Kabul Police Commandment to 7 years and 6 moths in prison on similar charges.

Two Counter-narcotics officials, Nooruddin and Mohammad Esa, each received 1 year and 6 months in prison.

Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior had earlier said that the security forces have arrested Mia Ahmadi, the Counter-narcotics Chief of Kabul Police Commandment, describing him as one of the biggest smugglers and drug kingpins.(20200213)
