3. Biodata:
Ajmal Ahmady was born 1978 to a religious family in Ghazni Province. He finished his elementary and secondary studies in Afghanistan; he gained his higher education abroad. He has obtained two Masters degrees from Harvard University in the field of business administration as well as economy and public administration. Master of Economics and Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a Bachelors in Mathematics and Economics from UCLA. Ahmadi has eight years of experience in investment management with the newly established and small markets and has also worked with Booz Allen Hamilton, World Bank, EM Group, US Treasury Department and Ministry of Finance of Afghanistan. Ahmady is a TAPI board Member.

Ahmadi’s refusal to attend a briefing session in the lower house forced the MPs to suspend his authorities effective from Monday, 13 Januar 2020. Rahman Rahmani, Speaker of the Parliament, said. “From today on, we do not recognize Ajmal Ahmadi as the minister of industry and commerce. His endorsement on any contract will be considered a crime.”

Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) has frozen 6.5 million afghanis of Ajmal Ahmadi, former chief of the bank, an official said 20211014. Ajmal Ahmadi the son in law to former President Ashraf Ghani, who served as acting chief of Da Afghanistan Bank even he was denied the trust vote by the parliament for the slot. An official of DAB, who wished to go unnamed, said that the bank has frozen around 6.5 million afghanis from the salary of former acting chief of the bank, Ajmal Ahmadi.

Ghani Ahmadzais brother son-in-law, entered the government on April 14, 2015, when Mohammad Ashraf Ghani appointed him senior financial and banking advisor under Decree Number 150. According to the law of Da Afghanistan Bank, the Central Bank is the government’s advisor and banker. The fifth paragraph of Article 2 of this law states that the Central Bank is responsible for performing the duties of “banker, advisor and financial representative of the government.” However, Ashraf Ghani appointed him as advisor instead of going to the Central Bank in accordance with his plans and against the explicit provisions of the law.
