1. Former Shindand Air Brigade Commanders 3rd Wing of the Afghan Air Force:
General Qudrullah Sediqi (20170918)
As of June 2012, the Afghan Air Force AAF has 96 aircraft and approximately 5,600 airmen. Afghan National Army Air Corps, is the aerial warfare branch of the Afghan Armed Forces. It is divided into four wings, with the 1st Wing at Kabul, the 2nd Wing at Kandahar and the 3rd Wing south at Shindand in western Afghanistan. The 4th Wing is at Mazar-i-Sharif. (20170918) Shinfand was built by the Soviets in 1961. It is home to the AAF 3rd Wing. Shindand is the second largest military air base in the country, located just south of Herat with significant military aircraft shelters and facilities. Its location made it a prime candidate as a training base for the AAF.
