Camp Shorabak (formerly Camp Bastion) is a former British Army airbase, located northwest of the city of Lashkar Gah in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Maj. Gen. Sayed Malouk, commanding general of the Afghan National Army (ANA) 215th Corps, and Maj. Gen. MussaWardat, Afghan Ministry of Defense Surgeon General opened the first Afghan National Army aboard Camp Shorabak in Helmand province Afghanistan August 21, 2014. The medical treatment center is independently operated by the ANA 215th Corps. It has a 50-bed afghan managed military hospital which is one of the busiest in the country, accounting for a quarter of all medical evacuations to better-equipped facilities in Kabul, US and Afghan officials say. Consisting of approximately 75 personnel including surgeons, physician assistants and medics, the facility’s staffing shortfalls are compensated by their dedication to care for wounded 215th Corps soldiers across Helmand Province. The Afghan National Army 215th Corps Hospital at Camp Shorabak, Afghanistan is quickly becoming one of the best military hospitals in the nation.(20170811)
