Background:
Tagab District is one of the 29 districts of Badakhshan Province in Afghanistan. It was created in 2005 from part of Fayzabad District and has a population of approximately 22,000 residents. The Karaste Canal is located in Tagab District.
Tagab district fell to the Taliban in November 2016.. The Taliban left the district after fighting the security forces in Aug 2017 and retreated to Yamgan district of Badakhshan province. When the Taliban was in Tagab they were threatening Faizabad and Takhar highway.(20170816) |
