Background:
209th Corps in Mazari Sharif. Works closely with the German-led Regional Command North, and has 1st Brigade at Mazar-i-Sharif and, it appears, a 2nd Brigade forming at Kunduz. An USA-Army Corps of Engineers solicitation for Kunduz headquarters facilities for the 2nd Brigade was issued in March 2008.
A Afghan National Army 100 bed "SHAHEEN" Regional Military Hospital (20070222) has been constructed in Mazar-e Sahrif (Balkh province). Col. Muhammad Hassan Kobandi is the head of newly constructed medical clinic (20101209)
The corps is supported by the Mazar-i-Sharif Regional Support Squadron of the ANAAC, equipped with 8 helicopters: 4 transport to support the Corps' commando battalion, 2 attack, and two medical transport.
Afghan National Army 209th Corps Engineer opened an engineer school in Mazar-e Sharif, Balkh province Dec. 8, 2010. The ANA 209th Corps Engineer School at Camp Sheheen features explosive ordinance disposal classes and construction classes teaching Afghan army engineers to rebuild destroyed bridges and infrastructure.

Brig Gen Amanullah Mobin Amanullah Mubin says that during past two weeks in result of ANDSF joint operation at least 150 armed government opponents killed and 120 other wounded. He added that Pakistani, Uzbekistani and Chechnya fighters are among killed opponents in Baghlan province.(20160214)
