Behzad_AhmadAhmad Bihzad, son of Muhammad Nasir, was born in 1974 in Herat City. Bihzad completed his fourteenth class in Human Science. Since his schooling, Bihzad has continued to participate in political and cultural activities inside and outside of the country. Nasir is one of the founders of the Afghanistan Immigrant Students Forum in Mashhad, Iran; a founder of the Journalists’ Association Experts Council; and responsible for the Afghan University Students Political and Cultural Affairs organization in Azerbaijan.

Ali Ahmad Behzad Ahmad Bezad was a former member of Hizb‐ e Wahdat Islami (Islamic Unity Party) of Afghanistan. Before he was elected to Parliament in 2005, Behzad was a journalist covering the province. In the 2005 elections by vote order he was on 7th out of 17 WJ seats for Herat.

On March 19, 2003, Ahmad Behzad, one of Radio Free Afghanistan's reporters, was allegedly beaten and detained on Ismael Khan's orders. This culminated in Khan ordering Behzad to leave the province permanently, despite his being a native of the city of Herat. Behzad returned to Herat on April 3, 2003. Ahmad Behzad is in opposition to Karzai and his government. He accused the administrative officials of the Parliament (Wolesi Jirga) in a public session of the parliament for not having proper knowledge about violation under which Karzai was declared as winner of the polls by the IEC. Behzad accused the president of pressuring the upper house to back his controversial decree to amend the election law. (20100403) Karzai appoints a third of upper house members. An authority from the IEC has said that IEC Head Manawi is under pressure from the President’s Office to disqualify three poll winners – Dr Mehdi, Ahmad Behzad and Latif Pedram. (20111109). President Hamid Karzai may dissolve Parliament in an effort to stand for a third term, the second deputy speaker of Wolesi Jirga said on 20110815.

In the election for the administrative commission of the Wolesi Jirga on 20110228  Ahmad Behzad bagged 124 votes and was elected 2nd deputy Speaker of the Lower House.
 

Afghan MP, Ahmad Bezad, asked the international community to prevent Karzai and his cronies from pursuing illegal actions during the next presidential elections in Afghanistan.(20120520).

MP Behzad has been largely involved in organizing rallies and demonstrations against the government over the massive TUTAP power project. A large demonstration was organized by Enlightening Movement led by MP Behzad which was formed to protest against the implementation of the project which was originally planned through Bamyan province. Scores of people were killed and dozens more were wounded after a deadly suicide attack ripped through the protest 2016. The movement led by MP Behzad continues to their demonstrations mainly outside the country and on official visits of the Afghan leaders.


Wolesi Jirga suspended MP Ahmad Behzad, MP Parvin Durani, MP Fareshta Anwari, and MP Bashir Ahmad Tahyanj. The four lawmakers had failed to attend the parliament sessions since the past twenty days.(20170412)
