Mullah Abdul Manan Nyazi Maulawi Abdul Manan Niazi Neyazi was born 1968 in Pashtoon Zarghoon district, Herat province. He was Governor of Kabul Province under the Taliban regime.   He is listed on the UN sanction list 25 Jan. 2001 (amended on 3 Sep. 2003, 18 Jul. 2007, 21 Sep. 2007, 12 Apr. 2010) . Taliban spokesman Mullah Abdul Manan Niazi, also a senior member of the Supreme Council, said those who elected Mullah Mansour as successor of Mullah Omar had not followed the proper procerdure. "According to Islamic rule and principles, when a leader dies, a Shura (council) is called, then its leader is appointed," he added.

“We will not allow any group or state to disrupt this (TAPI) project,” Maulawi Abdul Manan Niazi said in a statement sent to local media.(20180225)

Mullah Niazi is in coma and three of his men were killed and four others were wounded in a clash in Guzara district in Herat Province. He was the deputy leader of a splinter group of Taliban led by Mullah Rasul.(20210512) Niazi had been transferred to a Kabul hospital on Thursday afternoon due to the severity of his wounds.

Abdul Manan Niazi, deputy head of a breakaway Taliban faction in Afghanistan, has died in a Kabul hospital of wounds sustained in a shooting earlier this week by unknown gunmen in Herat Province. Niazi's death early in the morning of May 15 was confirmed by a family member and a local government official in Herat who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the issue.(20210515)
