Born as Mullah Abdul Rahim, Mullah Manan was a high profile individual after the Taliban’s slain supreme leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour.
Hailing from Ishaqzai tribe, he was a resident of Farhad locality in Nawzad district and an important member of the Taliban’s leadership.
He was also known for violating some orders of the Taliban head Mullah Hibatullah and had been accused of not obeying orders in recent times.
According to reliable sources, Mullah Manan was accused of establishing contacts with Iran’s Sepah Pasdaran group and received arms and money against deadliest attacks in
