The Integrity Watch Afghanistan (IWA) has launched Efshagar to allow citizens in Afghanistan to report and track corruption cases anonymously.
Citizens can report on the type, location, department or office and value of actual corrupt acts on the Efshagar website or via text message.
The reports will be screened by officials at IWA to ensure that they conform to the reporting guidelines, and they are reviewed for accuracy.
The platform is established to capture cases of bribes across the country and bring them into the spotlight for discussion in a bid to increase transparency.
According to Efshagar website, IWA will use the data from the reports to advocate for improving governance systems and procedures, redirecting public strategy and funds, and tightening law enforcement and regulation and thereby reduce the scope and impact of corruption in Afghanistan.
The project is funded by Harakat, a non-profit Afghan-managed organization that aims to improve Afghanistan’s business environment.(20141215)
