3. Biodata:
Ahmad Shah Katawazai´s family hails from Katawaz in Paktika Province. Katawazai has a Bachelor of Arts, Law and Political Science, from Islamia College, Peshawar, Pakistan and Master Degree in International Relations from Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, Pakistan (2006-2008) plus a Second Master in Global Security Studies from Johns Hopkins University (2013-2016). Currently he is doing L.L.M from the American University in Washington D.C.(2016-2018) He is the member of the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan and a former diplomat and national security expert in Afghan Embassy Washington D.C.

Before becoming Defense Liaison at the Embassy of Afghanistan in Washington D.C. Ahmad Shah Katawazai served as Desk Officer of International Conventions and Treaties in the Human Rights Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan. There he was involved in preparing International Conventions reports to the U.N. He was leading member of the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 Technical Committee. Prior to that he worked as an adviser to the Regional Studies Center of Afghanistan and as a member of the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan.

Katawazai has worked with the OSCE Secretariat (The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe), Central Asia Desk. He has work experience with DynCorp International, where his role involved building and expanding DynCorp International relationships with stakeholders particularly security sector. He also has been part of the Center for Policy and Human Development (CPHD) water project under the auspices of UNDP, where he worked in the capacity of communication and advocacy specialist.

Mr. Katawazai is fluent in Pashtu, English, Dari and Urdu.
