Background:
The population of the province is estimated at 635,302 people, consisting of Tajik at 78%, Hazara 19%, Pashtun 2% and Uzbeks 1%. Religiously, about 70% of the population of the province follow Sunni Islam and the remaining 30% are Shi'as.

Du Lina District was Created in 2005 within Chaghcharan District and Shahrak District. The Dolina district is a haven of illegal armed groups.

Ghor province is only a summer area for Kuchi, no Kuchi stay there during winter. For the long-range Kuchi of Afghanistan, Ghor is the third most important province, after Kabul and Logar. In the summer 106.276 long range migratory Kuchi come to Ghor province from Farah, Helmand, Herat, and Laghman. Short range migratory Kuchi also come to Ghor in the summer. The Kuchi population in the summer is 166,640 individuals living in 17,953 households. The district center is Dahan-e Falezak (Shahrak).

Insurgents also launched attacks on Shahrak district in 2017 and latest 20180511.

Directorate of Refugees and Repatriations(DoRR) of Ghor province with co-operation of ACF have distributed cash assistance which displaced from insecure places of Jawand, district of Badghis province and Sharak, Dolina, Ferouz koh, districts (20180106).
