District Chief:
Ghulam Shah (20080530) had links with the Taliban and had handed over the district buildings to the militants, provincial Police Chief Khan Mohammad Mujahid told Reuters.

Background:
Rashidan District is a new district in Ghazni Province; it was created from the larger Jaghatu district. 29,000 people are living in the villages of the district. 96% of them are Pashtun and 4% Hazara.
 

Taliban militants have captured most villages in Rashidan District in the eastern province of Ghazni. They attacked the Rashidan district on 20130717 night. The district chief fled his office in the face of Taliban rocket attacks and bombings. The office is reportedly seized by Taliban militants. (20130718)
